The loss of a loved one can present a family with many challenges, leaving families to cope with lasting change
Coping with a suicide loss presents unique issues for suicide loss survivors. Feeling alone, filled with questions, shock and the stigma that can be associated with the loss of a loved one by suicide is just a few of issues that arise for suicide loss survivors.
You are not alone. You and your family can find support to travel this journey.
Grieving is a very personal and unique journey.
My approach is based on an integrating person-centered and trauma based approach. I create a safe, caring and supportive place for you to share your unique story, create an environment where you can process your feelings about your loss and integrate the experience of your loss into your life. Here are two tools that can help you navigate your journey. Emotional Freedom Technique allows for reduction of the intensity of emotions through tapping. The MUSE is a mediation tool that helps people develop a relaxation practice and improve focus in order assist in emotion regulation. These tools as well as other’s are available for use in our therapy together.
I offer individual, couples and/or family therapy depending on the clients needs. Individual therapy offers a person a private place to explore their personal grief and loss. Couples may want to meet together in order to develop an understanding of how each partner is processing the loss and how surviving a suicide loss is impacting their relationship. Family therapy brings families together to discuss how the impacts of surviving a suicide loss can impact family life. Whichever approach you choose, the goal is to meet your needs and assist you on your journey from surviving a loss toward finding a way back to thriving, without “disrespect”, “forgetting about it” or “just getting over it”.
You are not alone. You and your family can find support to travel this journey.
